Jesse Lumsden Retires

As a fledgllng broadcaster for 93. 3 CFMU-FM,  I remember calling games involving Jesse Lumsden.  He was the complete running back and back in those halycon days you could predict big things for the Burlington native.   I also teach at Nelson High School, the same one Jesse Lumsden started his meteoric rise to success and evidence of his excellence is depicted all throughout Nelson's weight room.  He truly had the total package:  size, speed, strength and his marketing appeal was through the roof.   When he played, he was dominant. He flirted with the NFL with tryouts in Washington and Seattle  As a Hamilton Tiger Cat in 2007 he averaged 7.6 yards a carry and another 13.4 yards per reception.  As was the case with Lumsden though, these stats were accumulated in an injury plagued year.   Lumsden just announced his retirement to pursue Bobsledding at the international level.   I have no doubt that success will follow him, should his body not betray him.  Along with that he should be the centrepiece of marketing for the Canadian Olympic Athlete.

Good luck Jesse Lumsden!
